7 Relation a relation is a set of ordered pairs Ex: { (1,0), (3,2), (1,5), (6,8), (7,2) } Domain is the set of first elements {1, 3, 6, 7} Range is the set of second elements {0, 2, 5, 8}

8 Functions are special relations Ex: { (1,2), (1, 3), (3, 4), (7,8) } not a function Ex: { (1,3), (2,3), (5,7), (6,7) } function?

11 Domain of a function Sometimes the domain of a function is stated. If not, we take the domain to be all real numbers that we can plug into the function that make sense. So, for the function f(x) = 1/x, what is the domain?
