Comment: In physics measurements simulated up to now, SM backgrounds have been included and have been shown not very sensitive to the type of central detector. However, before we get to the SM physics backgrounds, one has to remove backgrounds due to the effect seen on the slide 7, due to junk from the machine and due to cosmics. Junk from the machine and cosmics have not been included in many simulations and can be handled easily by a TPC...

Software has become so fast and powerful, that the reasons why we don‘t need „continuous tracking“ are given. Of course powerful software is good, but powerful hardware is also good. A combination of both is even better. It allows the possibilities of cross-checks and redundancy, both which are important in our business.
