It happened when the stock markets crashed. After this The 1930’s were known as the dirty thirties.

It started in the 1930’s. It spread like wild fire across the globe.

Fortunes were gone in a snap. Banks lost very large amounts of money and some even went bankrupt. Since no one had any money or very little no one bought stuff causing several stores to go out of business.

Most families were affected by the great depression. Middle class and working class were mainly affected. People who used to have homes now ate out of soup kitchens.

Families moved to different countries. They hoped to find available jobs. Ways to get enough money for there families and themselves.

When the great depression ended many people were able to get money. Many of the men joined in the army to go fight in World War II. Many of the women took the jobs in stores, markets, etc…
