SCHOOL UNIFORMS AND ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT

School Uniform Effects on Academic Achievement
It creates a safe environment, and students are able to concentrate on academic studies. Some research claimed that a negative achievement for those students who are “pro-school” Research also have shown no credible evidence that school uniforms improves academic achievement.

School Uniforms Reduces Students Behavior Problems
Promotes good discipline and reduces fights. Students who are opposed to wearing uniforms often alter the uniforms. Some research have found that uniform has no effect on students behavior.

Administrators and Teachers
Administrators spend less time as dress code police and more time on academics. Uniforms make it easier for administrators to identify unauthorized personnel on campus. Dress code is clear cut, and there is no gray areas.

Parents and Politicians
Parents spends less money on clothing, and can manage time more effectively. Politicians view uniforms as a way of eliminating violence on campus. State Supreme Courts ruled that school can not force students to wear uniform. However, more power have been given back to the school district due to violence and gang activity on campus.

Students Students feel safe and no pressure from their peers.
All students are dressed alike and their socioeconomic status are not exposed. Some students feel that they have lost their freedom of expression.
