Contents Grouping the Sleep Mode MSs Sleep Mode Operation Example of Group Sleeping Mode Bitmap Summary Proposed Text
3
Grouping the sleep mode MS Legacy sleep mode –Power saving class –Sleep mode MSs individually Listening to TRF_IND is overhead due to unnecessary of listening period Grouping the sleep mode MS –BS manages sleep mode MSs in groups In order to wake them up or make them sleep immediately –BS tells the group with bitmap whether the MS(s) in group should listen or sleep in each super-frame control signal –MS checks bitmap whether it should wake up or not the predefined frame in the Super-frame
4
Sleep Mode Operation [Step 1] MS is ready to go to sleep mode [Step 2] MS is in sleep mode –Listens the control signal of super-frame to synchronize & check if there is traffic for the MS –Sleeps again after listening period –Sleep mode info. can be changed [Step 3] MS returns to active mode
5
Sleep Mode Operation (cont’d) [Step 1] MS is ready to go to sleep mode –RSP MSG from BS makes MS enter the sleep mode with info. Listening interval –Could be changed with P(L) Group ID –BS assigns it which can be shared by MSs Listening Frame in Super-frame –Pre-defined frame index in the super-frame –Small used frame index first [Example of Sleep mode opeartion]
6
Sleep Mode Operation (cont’d) [Step 2] MS is in sleep mode –Sleeps with the info Listening interval, Group ID, Listening frame –[Step 2-1] Listens in listening period Along with the listening interval Listens bitmap in super-frame control signal –If the bitmap is set, MS listens in the listening frame –If the bitmap is not, MS sleeps continuously until next listening time [Example of Sleep mode opeartion]
7
Sleep Mode Operation (cont’d) [Step 2] MS is in sleep mode –[Step 2-2] Backs to sleep immediately after listening the same sleep mode info. –[Step 2-3] Sleep mode info. needs to be changed BS can notify with MOB_SLP- RSP with changed sleep mode info –listening interval, group id, & listening frame MS can request with MOB_SLP-REQ with expected sleep mode info. [Example of Sleep mode opeartion] [Step 2-2]
8
Sleep Mode Operation (cont’d) [Step 3] MS returns to active mode –MS has some traffic to transmit –BS wakes the MS in sleep mode up due to Buffer delay New traffic has come to the MS
9
Example of Group sleeping mode bitmap Group ID := 1 Predefined Listening Frame := F2
10
Summary Group sleep mode instead of individual sleep mode –Sleep mode MSs in groups –Bitmap in the super-frame control signal instead of TRF_IND –Group ID & pre-defined frame in the super-frame
11
Proposed Text X.x Sleep mode operation X.x.x Group Sleep mode In order to wake sleep mode MSs up or sleep contiguously, BS manages sleep mode MSs in groups based on bitmap which corresponds with sleep group ID. BS transmits sleep mode information such as group ID, frame number in the super-frame, listening interval, and so on.
