3 Part A : Micro-Listening Exercise 2: My life isn’t much fun. Every day I do the same things. I get up at 6:30 and then have breakfast at 7. I take the subway to work. It takes me 35 minutes to get to the office. I often have to work long hours. I start work at 8:30 a.m. and finish work at 7 p.m. Coffee breaks are provided from 10 to 10:20 in the morning and from 3:30 to 3:50 in the afternoon. To be honest, I don’t enjoy what I’m doing in the office very much, but I enjoy working with my co-workers.

4 Part B : Marco-Listening  Conversation 1: Hey Sandara! Culture Notes: 1. University of London The third oldest university in England. The present form of the university dates back from 1836. It has 19 colleges and 11 institutes situated across the whole of Greater London and beyond.

Today it is a busy cosmopolitan town with a growing hi-tech community. 3. So do you commute every day? If you commute, you travel quite a long distance every day between your home and your place of work.

8 Part B : Marco-Listening 2. But it isn’t very interesting to walk through the street. This shows that Mary is quite sensitive to the environment in which she walks. Walking in a park amid trees, grass, flowers and ponds can be very refreshing whereas walking in the street listening to the noise of vehicles is not. Culture Notes:

11 Part C Oral Practice Task 2(Pair work): Questions and answers on the texts Listen to conversation 1 & 2 again and answer the questions on page 75-76 in complete sentences. Then link up the answers to make a short summary of the conversation.
