Unit Summary In pairs, student will research certain aspects of adult life to determines job pay and costs of living. Students will then create a budget based on the information they have found to determine if their professions will pay for their desired lifestyles.

Students will gather, organize, and process information about professions, housing, and cost of living expenses. Assessment to Gauge Student Needs Think-Pair-Share: This assessment asks students to first think about questions, then to pair with someone and verbally share their response, and finally to summarize their ideas for the benefit of the entire class. This helps students organize prior knowledge and brainstorm questions. Why Projects? Project- based learning is a hands on approach to learning math that allows the students to gain skills that will help them in their future careers and education. Benefits of Project-based Learning: Students interest in the subject increases Students attitudes towards learning and school improve. Students gain a deeper understanding of the subject matter. Project Summary Students will research professions, housing, and costs of living in order to create a monthly budget based on the profession the student chooses. They will then have to figure out how much they can spend on housing, cars, clothing, food, entertainment and all that jazz. This project will have the students making as accurate a budget as they can with information found from their research.
