Citizen’s Rights Every U.S. citizens has rights. A right is something that is owed a person. The most important right a citizen has is the right to vote.

Voting By voting people have a “voice” in the government. Each citizen should be well informed about the candidates and issues because if elected, they will represent them in government.

Voting A voter must be 18 years of age and an U.S. citizen.

Responsibility “Every citizen has the responsibility to obey the laws of the community, state, and country in which he or she lives.” All U.S. citizens are expected to respect the rights of others.

Writing Activity Write an organized paragraph stating the rights and responsibilities of U.S. citizens. Explain how amendments to the U.S. Constitution have maintained a representative democracy.
