Main objectives of this session: What are the benefits to encouraging my child to get involved?? Why does this even matter at this age? What types of leadership activities for my child are available at Brock's Gap and Bumpus Middle School? Finding the balance at this age can be tough, how can parents, teachers, family friends help? Making good grades gets the student the invitation, it’s all the “other stuff” that’s important too!

KIDS DEVELOP CONFIDENCE NOT BECAUSE PARENTS TELL THEM THEY'RE GREAT, BUT BECAUSE OF THEIR ACHIEVEMENTS, BIG AND SMALL. SURE, IT'S GOOD TO HEAR ENCOURAGING WORDS FROM MOM AND DAD, BUT WORDS OF PRAISE MEAN MORE WHEN THEY REFER TO A CHILD'S SPECIFIC EFFORTS OR NEW ABILITIES!
