2.  Sharps should be minimized due to spread of blood borne diseases.  Dispose of sharps as soon as possible.  Each health care worker is responsible for the management and disposal of the sharps they use.

3.  Health care facilities must provide adequate resources for disposal.  Do not transfer sharps by hand between a health care worker and any other person.  Do not resheath.  Always use a puncture resistant tray.
