Little Red Riding Hood
2
Retold and Illustrated by Room 5

Once upon a time, long ago, there lived a girl who wore a red coat with a hood. She was called Little Red Riding Hood. She lived with her mother deep in the forest.
6
One day, Little Red Riding Hood was feeling sad. Her Grandma was sick. Her mum gave Little Red Riding Hood a basket of food to take to grandma. The picnic basket had yummy, delicious food in it, cooked by mum. Her mum told her to stay on the path and not to talk to strangers.
8
So she took her basket and walked into the forest. First, Little Red Riding Hood saw some beautiful flowers growing along the path and so she decided to pick them for her sick grandma.
10
Deep in the forest, a hungry wolf searched for food and happened to spy Little Red Riding Hood.
12
While she was picking flowers, the wolf jumped out from behind a big oak tree and greeted Little Red Riding Hood. The wolf then asked Little Red Riding Hood where she was going. She told him that she was taking a basket of food to her sick grandmother on the other side of the forest.
14
Not long after, the wolf scurried ahead to Grandma’s house and reached the house first. He knocked on the door and went in. He saw Little Red Riding Hood’s grandma and he locked poor old Grandma in a dark closet. Next, he disguised himself as Grandma and he changed into Grandma’s clothes and hopped into her warm, cosy bed.
16
Soon, Little Red Riding Hood arrived at Grandma’s house and was shocked to see Grandma with long pointy ears, big scary eyes and big, sharp, ferocious teeth.
18
Suddenly, the wolf undisguised himself and chased Little Red Riding Hood when she said he had big ferocious teeth. Quickly, Little Red Riding Hood ran out of the cottage as fast as she could. She screamed for help because she thought that she was going to die.
20
However, a poor wood cutter heard the screams and ran to rescue her. He carried his sharp axe with him and scared the hungry wolf away.
22
After that the woodcutter and Little Red Riding Hood returned to the cottage where they found Grandma in the dark, locked closet and freed her.
24
It was a happy day for Little Red Riding Hood’s family and they lived happily ever after. The hungry wolf never came back again. Finally Little Red Riding Hood promised her mum never to talk to strangers and to always stay on the path in the forest.
