What did William James say? James argued that bodily reactions trigger emotions. The theory is called the James-Lange Theory because psychologist Carl Lange came to the same conclusions. The James-Lange Theory of Emotions

What do the critics say? Critics of the James-Lange Theory claim that different emotions, such as anger, sadness or fear are not necessarily associated with different physiological reactions. For example: fear and anger may cause the same physiological response. The James-Lange Theory of Emotions
