1 I cry out that God may hear me, and with help be ever near me. To the Lord I cry a loud, by a weight of trouble bowed. I stretch out my hands to reach him ; all the night my prayers be seech him. To my God my grief I told ; I re fused to be con soled. [Sing to the Lord 77]

2 2. I re member God with weeping ; you have kept my eyes from sleeping. I re call the days of light, days when songs came in the night. Will the Lord reject for ever ? Will he show his favour never ? Will his promise not pre vail ; mercy, in his anger, fail ?

3 3. So his wonders I re member ; years of his right hand I ponder, think on his great deeds so bold – all his miracles of old. For your ways, O God, are holy ; matchless ly they show your glory – mighty miracles that save all your people from the grave.

4 4. Waters lifted in con vulsion for the Lord of all cre ation. Rain poured from the clouds on high ; flashing arrows filled the sky. Through the sea, by footprints hidden, and by whirlwind, thunder- ridden, you led to the promised land your own flock by Moses’ hand. Sing to the Lord 77 Projected with permission Text: Berwyn Hoyt, 2004, rev. 2010, © Sing to the Lord, 2012 Tune: Genevan Psalter, 1551; harm. Henry Bruinsma, 1954, Psalter Hymnal, 1957
