It was a cold, still, starry night. The moon was shining better than ever before. The sky was as black as coal and there was no one to be seen. In the sky were loads of beautiful, bright stars. Clouds, which looked like grey candyfloss, were drifting across the moon. All of a sudden the silence was interrupted by a solitary owl. In the distance, where it was really dark, were loads of dark, tiny houses which were silhouetted by the moon. The trees, which stood like proud statues, rustled in the night.

This poor little girl was all on her own. Looking at her invoices, she wondered what she was going to do. The hot burning candle was the only light in the entire caravan. She had no money to get food and water. It was pitch black outside and there was nobody to be seen. Dropping a penny into the metal box the young girl sighed sadly.

Meanwhile a little teapot was roaming through the night. As he bounced through the neighbourhood, he stumbled across a sign which read “Artistes cherchez” (Artists wanted.) Little did people know this teapot was actually searching for a job which he would really like. The little girl was fast asleep in her comfy bed. Suddenly, a huge clattering disturbed her from her deep sleep.

Shocked, the little girl peered through the window. What she saw stunned her. A mysterious shadow was lurking in the circus.

She went into the circus to see what the mysterious shadow was but she couldn’t see anything. Sadly, she turned around and started to walk away. Suddenly, she heard a noise. She turned around and saw the little teapot. She wondered how it was alive. She wasn’t scared though she went up to it to pat it. Then it sniffed the air and then took his lid off and put it back on again.

All of a sudden bang, bang, scared the little girl stepped back. A mysterious spirit arose from the teapot. It was a genie! Anxious the genie whipped out his dog. (Also know as a fly trap)

It started snapping away at the genie and the girl so the genie had to kill it by throwing it at the floor. After he did that he showed the girl the sign that was outside. He really wanted a job.

The girl said “show me some of your ideas,” so he did so and what the girl got was devastating. The genie was quite proud of his ideas. His first one was a magic trick he would slice up a box into three bits and would put them back together but it didn’t work well instead the girls body parts were in different places. His second idea was a knife throw but instead he threw an axe and a boulder. His third and final idea was the genie shot a cannon and tried to shoot the apple of her head but it blew her up instead.

The girl started crying and wondered why he had to make his acts like that? The genie however was devastated he really wanted his acts to work but to cheer the girl up he changed himself into a frog.

The girl stopped crying picked the frog up and threw him up into the air she thought of a fabulous circus act that would get her lots of money. The frog knew what he was in for. La Grenouille acrobate. (The flying frog)

The act had started he would first of all jump onto the trapeze but failed to get onto it and fell onto a ball rolling around. The girl threw objects at him as well. Then he fell into a cannon and the girl, who was quite mean, set the cannon on fire. The poor frog flew up and landed on the trapeze.

The girl then got up to the trapeze and snipped the rope holding it. It was a fabulous act and everyone was on their feet throwing coins down onto the stage. The girl was thrilled but the frog however felt relieved but horrified at the same time! Now the girl has money to pay her bills (invoices.)
