Career - people make a career out of surfing by receiving corporate sponsorships and performing for pho tographers and videographers in far-flung destinations; they are typically referred to as free surf ers. The Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) - hosting only the best competitors in some of the best surf spots around the globe.

Famous surfers Duke Kahanamoku (August 24, 1890 – January 22, 1968) - father of modern surfing. - 5 Olympic medal of Swimming. Greg Noll (born February 11, 1937) nicknamed "Da Bull“ by Phil Edwards in reference to his physique and way of "charging" down the face of a wave, is an American pioneer of big wave s urfing and is also acknowledged as a prominent long board shaper. Noll wa s a member of a US lifeguard team that introduced malibu boards to Australi a around the time of the Melbourne Olympic Games.
