ECE555 Course Project Proposal Coordinated Power and Utilization Control for DRE System with E2E Tasks Xing Fu Eric Puster 16 September 2008
2
Background Current research of Power Aware Real Time Community focuses on minimization of Power/Temperature of Real Time System. Lacks explicit guarantee of Power. Various feedback control systems have been designed and implemented. Little research on composing BIG adaptive systems.

Challenges(1) Current research focuses on reducing power consumption as much as possible while guaranteeing Real Time. But when power failure occurs, these systems can do nothing. So power needs to be controlled in conjunction with utilization. The above imposed a new challenge: how to resolve control between two conflicting (Why?) controllers.
6
Challenges(2) Current research only presents simulations. To evaluate system design under practical situation, we will need to setup experimental test bed.
7
Goals Present theoretical Control analysis of stability for both power controller & utilization controller. Design coordinated MPC controllers. Obtain initial experimental result based on previous projects. We assume that two coordinated controllers are feasible. If time allows, this feasibility will be further investigated.
