What are my choices after I graduate from high school? Employment 13 th Year/ Gap Year Career College/Vocational Education Trade School or Apprenticeship Military Community College 4 year College or University

Employment Always an option A way to gather funds to further your education Great way to gain experience Sometimes difficult to return to education

13 th Year/ Gap Year Gap Year: a time where students “take time off” to take advantage of other opportunities, such as volunteering, internships, travel, etc. 13 th Year: additional year of high school where students can make up credits or improve grades

Career/Vocational College Specific training for a wide variety of careers and trades Offer a variety of diplomas, certificates or degrees depending on the program Can offer hands-on training Can be public or private

Military/R.O.T.C. Variety of different branches; Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines A variety of options for enlistment, including R.O.T.C. at the university level Opportunities for specialized training as well as tuition support

Community College Generally two year programs Credits can often transfer to 4 year colleges Usually graduate with associates degree or certificate Offer programs that generally fall into 1 of 3 categories: Liberal Arts/Professional Vocational/Technical Apprenticeship Instruction

4 Year College/University Offer both undergraduate and graduate degree programs Can be residential or commuter Often will accept credits transferred from community colleges Can be private or public Can be national or regional
