4. 13 th Year/ Gap Year  Gap Year: a time where students “take time off” to take advantage of other opportunities, such as volunteering, internships, travel, etc.  13 th Year: additional year of high school where students can make up credits or improve grades

5. Career/Vocational College  Specific training for a wide variety of careers and trades  Offer a variety of diplomas, certificates or degrees depending on the program  Can offer hands-on training  Can be public or private

6. Military/R.O.T.C.  Variety of different branches; Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines  A variety of options for enlistment, including R.O.T.C. at the university level  Opportunities for specialized training as well as tuition support

7. Community College  Generally two year programs  Credits can often transfer to 4 year colleges  Usually graduate with associates degree or certificate  Offer programs that generally fall into 1 of 3 categories:  Liberal Arts/Professional  Vocational/Technical  Apprenticeship Instruction

8. 4 Year College/University  Offer both undergraduate and graduate degree programs  Can be residential or commuter  Often will accept credits transferred from community colleges  Can be private or public  Can be national or regional
