Auschwitz II was established in early spring of 1942, two years after Auschwitz I was established. The liberation date of Auschwitz-Birkenau was January 27th 1945 by the Soviet Army.

The estimated number of victims is around 2.1 to 2.5 million.

Auschwitz-Birkenau was actually the largest camp made during the holocaust. In 1944, around 6,000 people were killed in one day. One of the main reasons that Nazi Germany established the camp there was because it was a central intersection of roads and railways.
