GALLERY WALK, TALK, AND PROVE: MODEL MADNESS
2
In your Brain Books: What are good characteristics of science models that help explain or show a concept? In what ways have we modeled the states of matter so far in this unit? (What is the purpose of each model?)
3
Gallery Walk of Models Purpose: Use your thinking stems to discuss the benefits (advantages) and limitations of each model based upon evidence.
4
Thinking/Conversation Stems How could this… What is your opinion… How do you think… How do you feel about… How does this relate to your experiences? Why do you think… What would you do… How could… What EVIDENCE supports…

Instructions Travel with your group to each model station. Record your thoughts on the graphic organizer. COMPLETE this step as we will use these Thursday! When prompted, SHARE your thoughts with your peers and provide ONE overall summary statement with this stem: “This model was good because…, but it could be improved by …”

Brain book reflection Which model helped improve your thinking about how molecules behave in a solid, liquid, and gas concerning THERMAL ENERGY. Revisit your bellringer answer: In what others ways is a model a ‘good’ model for explaining the concepts? Design your own model of demonstrating how molecules move in the states of matter. What are your design’s benefits and limitations? (Added after simulations on Wednesday).
