Definition of Humanitarian Leadership behaviours (Core Humanitarian Competency Framework) Seeing the overall goal within the changing context and taking responsibility to motivate others to work towards it, independent of one’s own role, function and responsibility

Strategic leadership skills that relate to the bigger picture Relational and communication qualities, including the ability to listen Decision-making and risk-taking skills Management and organisational skills Personal qualities including being principled, acting with integrity, being self-aware, having an inner self- confidence, humility, energy and enthusiasm A good leader recognises where their gaps are and calls on others to fill those gaps Leadership qualities

Scenarios Discuss: As a team leader, what would you do in this situation? What leadership qualities does this situation require? List your three best agreed options and three key qualities on a flipchart Share examples of when you have had to make quick decisions as a team leader
