Center line content IMB – INDUCTIVE PROXIMITY SENSOR Product Introduction
2
Center line content The IMB from SICK is an inductive proximity sensor for harsh environments at an affordable price point. If the IME family does not offer enough performance or robustness for a particularly tough application, then the IMB is the sensor to consider next. Industry leading inductive with: ▸ IP 68 and IP 69K ▸ -40…100 ⁰ C ▸ Shock resistant up to 150 g ▸ Coolant resistant ▸ Stainless steel housing ▸ Visual installation aid ▸ Self-locking nuts ▸ IO-Link communication WHAT IS IT? 2

Center line content Where does this product fit in the existing family offering? ▸ The IMB offers higher performance and robustness than the IME family for harsher environments but not quite to the level of the IMF family. The price point of the IMB is closer to that of the IME than the IMF family. The IME is still the first choice, go-to inductive sensor. What customer needs does this new product address? ▸ The IMB is for applications that the IME could not previously solve. Often the IMF or INOX inductive sensors may have met the customer needs but the price point was too high for these industries. The IMB should be used when IP 69K, extended temperature ranges, or chemical resistance is needed. Are there specific applications we should be focused on for this launch? ▸ The IMB is focused on two areas: machine tooling and harsh/outdoor applications. Applications in these areas cross many industries. There is not a strong focus in the consumer goods industry since the IMF and IM INOX sensors cover applications at an appropriate price point. Does this product have specific diagnostic capabilities for early visibility to potential downtime? ▸ Yes. Inductive sensors are often installed just on the edge of their operating range. If there are any minor adjustments to the equipment that would move the target slightly out of range, the sensor may not operate properly. The IMB offers a visual installation aid to ensure the perfect installation distance every time for consistent, optimum performance.
