Students will distinguish between the scale shape and the true shape of the Earth.

Students will be able to differentiate between latitude and longitude. ◦ Specifically, they will correctly identify the latitude and longitude of selected cities.

Students will understand the relationship between longitude and time change. Specifically: ◦ Given two locations, students will determine the time difference between them or the actual time at the second location. ◦ Given a location and a time difference, students will determine the other location.

Students will be able to determine a latitude given an altitude of Polaris. They will also be able to do the opposite

Students will be able to construct an isoline map and calculate gradients.
