2 Learning Objectives Explain the nature and role of assembly drawings in the industrial setting. Explain different ways of creating pictorial and multiview assembly drawings used in industry. Discuss the role of the subassembly drawing. Identify and read information about the components within an assembly drawing.

3 Learning Objectives Identify sectioning techniques used to delineate component parts in an assembly drawing. Identify and read parts list information about assembly drawings that are drawn for multiple variations.

4 Assembly Drawings Assembly drawing: shows the working relationship of the various parts of the machine, structure, or product as they fit and function together For the scope of this text, drawings of inseparable assemblies, such as welded parts or parts with inserts, are considered in the same context as detail drawings

5 Assembly Drawings Includes: Name of the assembly or subassembly
List of separate parts Various size dimensions related to the assembly Other information that cannot be determined from the separate parts General notes about the assembly

As a unit, will be given an inventory or part number and will fit within a larger assembly

10 Exploded Assembly Drawings
Multiview and pictorial assembly drawings can be “exploded” to show the order or method of assembly

Section lines for different parts of an assembly drawing are turned at different angles Different section line spacing may also be used to help delineate parts

13 Application Blocks Indicates what assembly is next in line for the part or subassembly
