What are inequalities? An inequality is a statement that two quantities are not equal. For example: 7 > 4 9 < 12 13 5 6 15

How do you solve inequalities? Solving inequalities is simple. You follow the same steps for solving EQUATION;)…with one difference. Instead of an equal sign, you will use the symbol that appears in the inequality.

FOR EXAMPLE: 5 + a < 35 *Subtract 5 from both sides 5 + a < 35 -5 -5 a < 30

Solve the following inequality. B – 32 5 *add 32 to both sides B – 32 5 + 32 +32 B 37

You should have the following answers: F 2 N < 28 P > 4

How do you graph inequalities? Graphing an equality that has sign, use an OPEN DOT at the number or answer. Graphing an inequality that has or sign, use a CLOSED DOT at the number or answer.

What does THAT mean??? For example, one of your answers on the previous problems was F 2. You would graph the answer like this: 0 1 2 3 4 Closed dot because of the sign ( ) and F is greater than or equal to 2!

Here’s another one! N / 2 < 14 For N < 28 24 25 26 27 28 OPEN DOT because of the sign ( < ) and N is less than 28!
