4 HISTORY Taught for at least 28 years, perhaps longer Wide variety of formats and faculty over the years For 17 years, taught within the Welch Center For three years, sponsored by the Institute for Clinical and Translational Medicine

5 GOALS Provide an overview of clinical research methodology, especially study design and statistical analysis Learn what is required to conduct a study that is high quality and efficient Learn how to communicate more effectively with research collaborators Become familiar with resources available at JHMI to carry out high quality clinical research Develop a research project

6 FORMAT Two weeks, 9AM to 4:00 PM (or so) Lecture and small group Lectures held in 2024 building; Room 1-500Q Small groups throughout the Welch Center and School of Medicine (see sheets for assignments and room locations; available no later than Tuesday morning) Small group presentations on the last day

9 MISCELLANEOUS Food available in Northeast market, BSPH (2 nd floor, 9 th floor cafeteria), Greenhouse Café in SOM Bathrooms Breakfast provided on the first day and last day Lunch provided on last day of course If you wish to take the course for academic credit in either the BSPH or SOM, please visit the respective school’s Registrar’s Office this week (we will not issue credit next year for the this year’s course)
