1 Properties and Changes of Materials

2 What are Solids? Images Infomation Solids stay in one place and keep their shape. They do not flow like liquids. Example of solid materials: Metals, wood, plastics, glass & stones They can be: hard, smooth, rough, spikey, opaque and transparent. Example of solid objects: Car, table, window, rock, book & box.

3 What are Liquids? Images Information A liquid can be poured or flow easily. A liquid can be turned into a solid (freeze water into ice) or a gas (boiling water into steam). Example of liquids: Water, milk, soft drinks, juice, tea, coffee etc.

4 What are Gasses? Images Information Gasses are normally invisible and do not keep their shape like solids. Heating a liquid turns it into a gas e.g. water into steam and cooling it turns it back into a gas. Example of gasses: Steam, oxygen nitrogen and air (Oxygen & Hydrogen)
