2. Class Overview The AP Capstone is an inquiry-based course that aims to engage students in cross-curricular conversations that explore real-world topics and issues from multiple perspectives. Students are empowered to collect and analyze information with accuracy and precision in order to craft and communicate evidence-based arguments. *College Level Course *Skills based Course *Student Driven Course

3. First Semester * Students will explore the themes: Social Media, Representation and Democracy. *Students will master QUESTT -Question & Explore -Understand & Analyze -Evaluate Multiple Perspectives -Synthesize Ideas -Team, Transform & Transmit

4. Second Semester Performance Task 1 complete by 2/2825% Team Project & Presentation Assessed by Instructor. Validated by College Board. Task Overview Students work in teams of three to six to identify, investigate, analyze, and evaluate an academic or real-world problem, question, or issue. Each team designs and/or considers options, alternatives, and approaches and develops a written report and multimedia presentation to communicate its conclusion, solution, or recommendation. Individual Research and Reflection (approximately 2,000 words) Written Team Report (approximately 3,000 words) Team Multimedia Presentation (8-10 minutes) with follow-up questions

5. Second Semester (cont.) Performance Task 2- complete by 4/2335% Individual Research-Based Essay & Presentation Cross-curricular Stimulus Material Provided Assessed by Instructor. Validated by College Board Task Overview The College Board’s AP Program will annually release cross-curricular source materials (texts) representing a range of perspectives focused on a single theme or topic. Students will use these texts to identify a research question of their own; conduct research; analyze, evaluate, and select evidence to develop an argument; and present and defend their conclusions. The final must paper must refer to and incorporate at least one of the provided sources. Research-Based Argumentative Essay (approximately 2,000 words) Individual Multimedia Presentation (6-8 minutes) Oral Defense of Presentation (two questions from the teacher)

6. Second Semester (cont.) End of Course Exam 5/540% Three hour,written exam, assessed by College Board.

7. EOC and Grading *Class grades are difference from AP grades *AP grades and grading scale are set by College Board. *Class grades will follow YWCPA Grading policy. *Direct Feedback will only be given the first semester. The second semester students are in constant assessment and no teacher, parent or outside input is allowed. *Plagiarism policy will align with College Board.

8. Presentations *Students will present as a part of the AP score as well as the class score. Practicing and getting comfortable is important. *Presentations are recorded and sent to College Board. *Students need to be professional and prepared. *Defending their paper will require and audience. Preferably a diverse group of students and professionals. *Students need to make sure they practice for audience and purpose.
