Mozambique’s Historic Facts It was explored by Vasco da Gama in 1498 and first colonized by Portugal in 1505. Guerrilla activity began in 1963 and became so effective by 1973 that Portugal was forced to dispatch 40,000 troops to fight the rebels. On Jan. 25, 1985, the government was locked in a paralyzing war with antigovernment guerrillas fighters.

Why the facts are important This was when the country was basically made. The Mozambique government had to send out many of their men for one purpose. The guerilla fighters lead to the fact above.

Food Corn is an important staple food; both corn and cassava were introduced from the Americas by the Portuguese. Cashews, pineapple, and peanuts, which are other important foods, found their way to Mozambique in the same way. Along the coast, the cuisine is more varied than it is in the areas that are more inland. The diet there includes more fruit and rice as well as seafood dishes such as macaza (grilled shellfish kabobs), bacalhão (dried salted cod) and chocos (squid cooked in its own ink). Food is seasoned with peppers, onions, and coconut. Palm wine (shema) is a widely liked drink.

What I think for Mozambique's future I think that eventually Mozambique's mainly military rule will send it into very bad times. It might also lead to the country being taken over or cause the government’s downfall.
