Prevention, Diversion and Offending AIM To deliver a pro-active and targeted service to young people, utilising various levels of intervention dependent on level of need. All services provide support and guidance and assist young people in identifying alternatives to leading chaotic lifestyles. Prevention Reducing the risks young people face through focused informal and formal learning opportunities and targeted programmes Diversion Diverting young people away from becoming involved in crime and anti social behaviour by providing pro social activities which encourage them to make informed, safe and healthy lifestyle choices

Gang Strategy Phase 1 - Identify Gang identified Individual members selected Profiles created for individuals Phase 2 – Stabilise and Consolidate Group engaged in offender programme Basic work placements offered within GCSS With support from training department and ‘Get Ready for Work’ inputs Phase 3 – Skills and Training Group members offered support in finding external employment or education opportunities Identify siblings Signpost – other supports Support Individual/family members supported by GCSS Divert Supported by access to youth provision at times when diversion will have the biggest impact LOCALITY TEAM Patrols by CSPO’s Removal of Graffiti Tags Open to peripheral members & young females Signpost – other supports INFO REQUIRED: Name DOB Offending history Family information; Parents & siblings SW/SCRA information Housing tenure School Information Position within gang Other information

1. Youth Engagement Teams Dedicated youth engagement teams and mobile resources including football arenas and Urban Café’s Deployed to hot spot locations at times where gaps exist in current service provision

2. School Engagement Programmes & Activities Multi functional schools team incorporating role of restorative processes within schools and agreed programme of modules Target p7 – s2 pupils in learning communities

3.Intervention Team Restorative Conferencing: –“a process whereby all the parties with a stake in a particular offence come together to resolve collectively how to deal with the aftermath of the offence and the implications for the future.” Group Offender Programmes: –Tailored interventions which aim to produce positive changes in dynamic risk factors such as attitudes, beliefs, and behaviour in order to reduce offending

4. Individual Support Team Joint assessment with Intervention Team and additional family and employability assessments where appropriate. Creation of support plans based on key areas: Education and Employment Liaison with external support services Positive leisure pursuits Accommodation Relationships and family A feeling of safety and well being
