2 Today’s Goal Teachers will continue to develop a better understanding of the trajectory of fraction concepts K-5 by doing the math and reading the Common Core Progressions document on fractions.

3 Private Think Time Take 15 minutes to read the CCSS Fractions Progressions Document 4-5 As you read-highlight/take notes about key ideas and wonderings you have.

4 Partner Share K/1- How does your work support/hinder students in 4-5? (sums, visual representations, numberline….) 2/3- How does your work support/hinder students in 4-5? ( numberline, visual represenations, multiplication…) 4/5- What common misconceptions are illuminated from this document? What understandings do students need to have of visual representations?

5 Analyze Student Work Partners look at examples of the student work on the task involving fractions. Based on what you just learned about the trajectory of fractions concepts K-5, what do these students understand/still need to learn about fractions? What questions would you want to ask these students to better understand how best to respond to their learning needs?
