The Salinas river The Salinas river is where the novel starts and ends for Lennie and George. The Salinas symbolises a safe haven for Lennie. He believes that is a safe place where George can find him if he gets into trouble. “the deep green pool of the salians river”

The Dream The Dream for George and Lennie is to go and buy a ranch for themselves. However for Lennie he wants to go to the ranch and tend to the rabbits. They talk about how they want to go and “live off the fatta the lan’. This show us that they want to be alone and have no one to boss them around.

Lennie In the novel Lennie is described as a animal. “he walked heavily, dragging his feet a little, the way a bear drags his paws.” This shows that he animal like and not very clever. It also shows that he is a big man like a bear. Another quote that shows this is “Lennie continued to snot into the pool”

Candy and his dog Candy is a old man, he also has a very old dog. “ A dragfooted sheepdog, grey of muzzle, and with pale, blind old eyes”. The dog is a metaphor for Candy because he is old like the dog and no one wants him. “if you want me to, I’ll the old devil out of his misery right now and get it over with” this is when they shoot the dog
