5 The Crescent Primary School Passport At The Crescent we believe that the curriculum is not just about National Curriculum Objectives. We aim to provide the children with opportunities to learn skills beyond this. We have created a passport that can be stamped as the children achieve certain challenges. This will then become a record of their life at The Crescent and will hold many memories we’re sure. The Passport challenges: Learn to play a musical instrument Join a club Represent my school Experience a leader position Go on a residential trip Contribute to the local community Work on an enterprise project Carry out simple first aid Make a link with another country Take away a special memory

6 Building Learning Power The Questioner The ReflectorCollaboration Kid Captain Resilience ‘ Term on term, year on year, a BLP school breeds young people who are more curious, more willing to take a risk and give it a go, more imaginative, more creative, more thoughtful, more ready, willing and able to learn with and through others. It’s developing this adventurous spirit that counts’. Professor Guy Claxton, originator of BLP

7 ResilienceResourcefulnessReflectionReciprocity I have courage to have a go and I try not to say ‘I can’t ’. I can work out what I need to find out and things I will need I can talk about my learning I am willing to share ideas I am determined and keep trying even when it is hard I can plan what steps I need to take I can be flexible and change my plans as I go along. I respect others’ ideas even if they are different to my own I can help myself when I am stuck I can ask useful questions I can make my own decisions and can explain my point of view. I treat others fairly and am willing to take turns I know when to ask for help I can work independently I use feedback to make my work better next time I can manage my feelings and try not to argue I try not to be distracted or distract others I use books, other people, computers and my own experience to help me. I allow time to improve my work I get involved and can take on different team roles
