EMODNet Chemistry (MARE/2012/10)
2
The portal should collect the following groups of chemicals: - in 3 matrices: water column, biota, sediment. - in all European waters.
3
Methodology is based on SeaDataNet network of NODCs and infrastructure: An efficient distributed Marine Data Management Infrastructure for large and diverse sets of data from in situ and remote observation of the seas and oceans. Actively involved in standards implementation following INSPIRE; A de-facto standard with: 44 partners and 14 subcontractors from 35 countries EU and not that are the network of National Oceanographic Data Centers (NODCs) involved in the data collection through the European Seas. Approach
4
Data harvesting and products generation are organized at Regional level. 5 sea regions have been defined as: Greater North Sea (including Norwegian Sea and Celtic Sea); Atlantic Sea (including Atlantic Coast and Macaronesia); Baltic Sea; Black Sea; Mediterranean Sea. Data Collection

Progress: Data Discovery and data access The dedicated web portal has been improved in the search criteria: Data can be downloaded in Odv format

Data Products generation 2 main subsets are developed from the available data : -DIVA (Data-Interpolating Variational Analysis) horizontal maps produced for parameters with homogeneous data coverage, measured on basin scale; Not homogeneous ditribution In time and space (basins) Homogeneous distribution In time and space (basins) -Time series plots of measured data produced for not homogeneous data (coastal points repeated in time, datasets with fragmented coverage.)

Products Metadata Catalogue The Sextant catalogue is used to search between all available products. A new vocabulary for parameters will be used for aggregation under scientific governance/validation.

Expected results Updated DIVA horizontal maps with additional params Time series plots (evaluating dynamic production) New visualization tools + a proposal for assessment tool Specific focus on coastal data An Experts Workshop is organised in Split (Croatia) for June 19 th 2014, to evaluate the results obtained in the first year (in terms of data distribution, products and services). To participate contact Alessandra Giorgetti (EMODNet Chemistry coordinator) agiorgetti@ogs.trieste.it!
