Important Decisions to be made Fall 2013 Number of General Education credits for each degree Distribution of credits for each degree Degree of flexibility in requirements

Major Questions to Consider Should 6 credits of English Composition, ENGL 101 and ENGL 102, be required for all transfer students? Should SPCM 101, Fundamentals of Communication, be required for all students?

Major Questions, continued Should transfer/career students be required to take a Wellness and Health course? Should transfer/career students be required to take an Information Technology course? Should we continue to have and require specially-designated Diversity courses or is it sufficient to have “Diversity” embedded in all General Education courses? Should there be other specially-designated courses?

General Education Review Board (GERB) Policies and Procedures: More Questions How can GERB streamline the course approval process? Should there should be a limit on the number of courses offered in each category? What is a reasonable timeline for courses to be submitted and approved? How will all of this affect GREAT Assessment?

Next Steps Open Fora-September 17, 3-4 PM, Essex and September 25, 3-4 PM, Catonsville Additional Open Fora to be scheduled in January, 2014. GERB deliberation throughout Fall 2013; recommendations to CIC/Senate by February, 2014.
