2. Foreward Korea has been pursuing a deregulation campaigns since 1998. The Regulatory Reform Committee was established in 1998 under the President to comprehensively enact regulatory reform tasks. Facing Global Financial Crisis 2009, Korea took quick action by introducing ”Temporary Regulatory Relief” and it helped many companies and individuals, in weathering away the economic crisis.

Korean Regulatory Reform Regulatory Review(1998): – President ordered to eliminate 50% of existing regulations within a year: “Guillotine Approach”. – Each ministry had to prove the need for its regulations before Regulatory Reform Committee (RRC) during the process. Temporary Regulatory Relief (2009): – Eased or repealed regulations temporarily until the economic recovery takes hold – Regulations are restored on the due date but as exceptions,some have been repealed permanently
