All About Circles 1-6 AQR
2
Activity: For this activity your team should get 4 circles of different sizes, and a yard stick. (You will also need a ruler and a pencil, the pencil will be used to help you rotate the circles so make sure you make a hole in the center of each circle.) Please do not make holes in the plastic or Tupperware.
3
Activity: To complete the table, organize with your team and choose two of your peers that will be in charge of finding the diameter and the circumference of each circle and record this information in the table. The other two peers will be in charge of rolling each circle on the floor and find out the distance traveled by each circle after one rotation.
4
Activity: 1. Based on your findings, what is the relationship between the circumference of a circle and its distance traveled in one single rotation? Be prepared to share with the rest of your class.
5
Activity: 2. If you were to ride a monocycle with the different circle sizes that you have, which circle would you choose to go from the front of the classroom to the back of the classroom and why?
6
Activity: 3. If you were to travel a larger distance, which circle do you think will be faster?, explain your reasoning and be prepared to discuss your answer with the rest of your class.
7
Activity: 4. What is the ratio between the circumference and the diameter?
