The end of the 19 th century was particularly hard for Nevadan’s. The mines were drying up and people were moving out to find work in other areas. Economic hardships from mining to ranching were felt. The state needed to find a way to bring new jobs and build up it’s failing economy. With the beginning of the 20 th century just around the corner, Nevada would be faced with a new set of challenges.
