Charcoal Pencil Techniques Objective: You will learn various charcoal pencil techniques for creating value in order to create a realistic observational drawing. DRILL: Draw the garlic bulb with charcoal pencil and shade it. Take 5 minutes. Anthony Walker, charcoal and graphite

Techniques Light / dark contour lines Value with hatching Value with mark-making- cross-hatching, stippling, scribbling, creative. Contrast Gray/ color background with black and white Apply techniques= eggs, garlic, popcorn onions…Lollipop or bag or pumpkin or grapes…

Homework~ Draw food, any materials. Document what you eat at least twice.

Bring in objects for your chalk still life Food Candy Bottles/ cans Trash Remnants of food Look in cafeteria and (dare I say- trash cans) Drinks FOOD, FOOD, FOOD Your carbon footprint.
