4 Expectations In the Classroom What does Mrs. V. Murphy expect of me in class? Do I need to ask to use the restroom?

5 Preparation  Be in your seat ready for class when the bell rings.  Bring all necessary materials- science notebook, any handouts and a pencil/writing utensil  Complete all homework before class

6 Safe  What Safe looks like in the classroom: Hands and feet to self, don’t touch others Always have a pass to exit the classroom Food, drinks, gum are not allowed in the classroom Keep traffic areas clear Follow all science safety guidelines

7 Respectful  What Respect looks like in the classroom: Be an active learner Value diversity, refrain from using language that may be insulting or insensitive Respect the learning environment by minimizing distractions Respect yours, others, and school property Accept adult correction (how do you respond?) Show enthusiasm!

8 Responsible  What Responsible looks like in the classroom: Stay on Task Complete assignments in a timely manner Assist others who need a helping hand Do not leave the classroom until Mrs. Murphy dismisses (orderly transitions)

9 What does staying on task LOOK like?  Immediately begin the warm-up activity when entering the classroom  Raise your hand when you have a comment, otherwise there should not be talking during class discussions.

10 What does staying on task LOOK like?  Follow instructions for all assignments, activities and labs, especially safety expectations.  Behave as the respectful, safe, and responsible student that I know you can be.

11 What if I don’t follow the P.S.R.R Guidelines? Prepared Safe Respectful Responsible

12 P.S.R.R Infractions  3 Strikes: Students receive 1 warning, the second time if necessary Mrs. Murphy will conference w/ you in the hall. If there is a third infraction the student will finish the class period in another classroom (Ms. Warren’s room) and Mrs. V.Murphy will make a phone call to parents.  Students may also receive a consequence if… Student shows gross disrespect Exhibits a physical safety issue Demonstrates an ongoing behavior

13 Late to class…  Tardy Policy  The classroom door will be locked as soon as the tardy bell rings  Tardy sweepers will gather late students and administrators will give student a pass to class.  When you arrive knock once, when let in do not speak! Sign the tardy clipboard and place tardy slip tardy tray. After the second tardy your parents will be called.

14 Wait…what about the restroom?

15 Being respectful and using the restroom  Restroom use is not permitted in my class.  You must use the bathroom in between class changes.

16 Fire drills and other emergency procedures  Quickly line up single file and QUIETLY move to the back stairs.  Once we are at our spot outside form a line.  Silently wait in line until dismissed.  Re-enter the building w/o talking  Phone call home if talking during a fire drill.  ABSOLUTELY NO TALKING DURING FIRE DRILLS
