ACT and You!

ACT: Purpose Nearly all colleges will also ask you to submit scores from a national standardized test. The ACT test is one of two national exams used for this purpose. The ACT test Your ACT composite score, together with your high school grades, indicates how prepared you are for college. In addition, the scores from the various sections of the ACT will help your college place you in the right classes, matching your skills with course requirements. The ACT is accepted or preferred by more colleges and universities—including all of the Ivy League colleges— than any other entrance exam.

ACT Test-Taking Strategies Answer the easy questions first, then go back and answer the more difficult ones if you have time remaining on that test. On difficult questions, eliminate as many incorrect answers as you can, then make an educated guess among those remaining. Answer every question. There is no penalty for guessing. Those left unanswered are marked as wrong. If you complete a test before time is called, recheck your work on that test.
