5. Allow me to give you some ideas What route shall I take? What do I need to take with me? Anybody to walk with? Let somebody know I’m on my way! What do I know about the area ? What am I wearing ? Should I let someone know I’m leaving? What do I do should something go wrong?

7. What should I consider? Time of day The weather Street lighting Is the area normally busy? Escape routes (where to get help) MOST IMPORTANT Do I know where I’m going?

8. How can I avoid becoming A victim of crime?

9. Walk tall, look confident! Be aware of what’s happening around you Try and keep at least one Hand free Make eye contact, let them Know you’ve seen them Carry an alarm

10. What do I do if some one Tries to attack me?

11. SHOUT! Or SWEAR! RUN! FIND OTHERS or GET THEIR ATTENTION

12. Can I defend myself?

13. Common law says - As long as you have the honest Held belief that the force you used was REASONABLE and NECESSARY! You can use force to- Defend your self or others Save life Prevent a breach of the peace Not forgetting the pre-emptive strike
