PMI Charts We will be using PMI charts to consider the impact of different technologies on aspects of lifestyle during this activity. A PMI chart involves examining the PLUSES, MINUSES and INTERESTING issues surrounding the selected technology.

Here is an example! Let’s consider the impact of mobile phones on interpersonal relationships in families. Technology Pluses Minuses Interesting Mobile phone -safety, members can keep in contact -convenience to be able to contact each other - -cost -can create anti-social behaviour by texting or talking to friends rather than family at home -can group all family phones together as a network

There are many areas in which technology has impacted on interpersonal relationships in families … - reproductive technology (eg. IVF, GIFT, ICSI, fertility drugs, freezing eggs/sperm) - genetic engineering (eg. food products, health and medical)
