2 Learning Intentions: We are learning to: Research the population of different countries in the commonwealth and round these numbers. Success Criteria: I can: Work with a partner to research a task. Use my ICT skills to research a topic. Use my knowledge of rounding.

3 Commonwealth Games 2014 – Glasgow Task 1 – Population of Countries in Commonwealth Games (1 period) In pairs on the computers find 20 countries that will be taking part in the next Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. Find out their population and round these numbers to a degree of accuracy given by your teacher. Record your answers on the worksheet provided.

4 Commonwealth Games 2014 – Glasgow Extension Task In pairs, look again at the countries you have listed in task 1 and add onto your worksheet an extra column with the title Currency/Exchange Rate. Now using the internet find out what type of currency that country uses and what is the exchange rate. For example – Australia use Australian dollars and the exchange rate is £1 = Aus$1.82

6 Commonwealth Games 2014 – Glasgow Task 2 – Medal Table (1 period) In pairs, take the medal table from the 2010 New Dehli Games and calculate a new table: 3 points for a gold, 2 points for a silver and 1 point for a bronze. Use your information to create a New Ranking table. Consider the two questions on the worksheet.

7 Commonwealth Games 2014 – Glasgow Extension Task In pairs, create a poster to display your findings from task 1 and task 2.
