2. HOUSE CHOOSING… Each year, first years travel by boat to Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry. They get escorted by Professor McGonagall to the entrance hall, where there, waiting for them will be a three legged stool, with a pointed witch hat on top. In front of the whole school, Professor McGonagall will open a piece of parchment and read out the names of first years. They must sit on the stool and place the Pointed witch hat on their head and the hat will shout out the name of, one of the four houses. Gryffindor (Scarlet and Gold) Slytherin ( Emerald and Silver) Hufflepuff (Honey and ink) Ravenclaw (Sapphire and Bronze). Each house represents a personality, Gryffindor - bravery, daring, nerve, and chivalry. Slytherin - cunning, resourcefulness, and ambition. Hufflepuff - hard work, patience, loyalty, and fair play rather than a particular aptitude in its members. Ravenclaw - wit, learning, and wisdom.

7. HOUSE POINTS… Every year houses get awarded house points, which all gather up in the end of the year for the ‘House Cup’. Teachers or prefects have the choice to either give you points, for good deeds and Quidditch, or can take off points for bad deeds. In the entrance hall there is four hour glasses filled with rubies for Gryffindor, sapphires for Ravenclaw, emeralds for Slytherin, and yellow diamonds for Hufflepuff. They are filled on whether their house has lots of house points, or not.

8. MARAUDER'S MAP… The Marauder's Map was found in the third book of Harry Potter. Given by Fred and George Weasley who took it out of Filch’s (The caretaker) office in their first year after setting off a dungbomb in the corridors. The way to look at it is to say ‘ I solemnly swear that I am up to no good’ and to close it you say ‘ Mischief Managed‘. The people who made the Marauder's Map was created by Remus Lupin, Peter Pettigrew, Sirius Black, and James Potter while they were attending Hogwarts.

9. When they were at Hogwarts their friends would call them Moony – Remus, Wormtail – Peter, Padfoot – Sirius, and Prongs for James who was Harry’s Father. The Marauder's Map has the drawings of the whole school, even out to hogsmead, (a wizard village). There are seven passages that lead out of Hogwarts, Filch (Caretaker) knows about four of them. The fifth one has been sealed off with concrete and the other opening is just below the Womping Willow (A big tree that thrashes anything in its way), and the last one is outside a classroom in a statue of a witch, you just tap her back with your wand and say “Dissendo”. This passage leads to the basement of Honey Dukes an old candy shop.
