2. Building your ISN Use this powerpoint to guide you through building your ISN Today is the last day to work on it You MUST finish before you leave class today, so stay focused and work hard

3. Materials Needed Spiral Notebook Glue Scissors Highlighter Ruler Writing Utensil

4. On a blank notecard, write the following information neatly in pen: First and Last Name Class Name School Year Teacher Room Number Period Example: Gabrielle Mathiesen Geometry 2015-2016 Ms. Mathiesen Room 709 1 st Period

5. Glue your card to the front cover This way your ISN can always be returned, even if you leave it on the bus

6. Count out the first 10 pages This will be your Table of Contents Use one color of highlighter to highlight just the edge of the paper Do this for all 10 pages

7. Across the top of each highlighted page: Write: “Table of Contents 1”, “Table of Contents 2”, “Table of Contents 3”, etc. Write on the front and the back of the page There will be a total of 20 Table of Contents pages (because there are 10 sheets front and back) You can also write “TOC 1”, “TOC 2”, etc. instead See the example on the next slide

9. On each table of contents page Put in 3 columns Use the pink margin lines to guide you Use a ruler to make the lines straight

10. Write in these headings for the columns Date Page Topic

11. You’re done building your Table of Contents!

12. Count out the last 21 pages This will be your Glossary Use a different color of highlighter to highlight just the edge of the paper

13. You will get one of these pages

14. Cut into strips lengthwise

15. Glue onto the left side of the paper. Make sure it lines up with the bottom of the page.

16. Do this for all 42 pages Don’t mess up! I don’t have extras!!! The last few strips are blank so that we can add any extra words that come up

17. You’re done building your Glossary!

18. Now to decorate! Grab a box of magazines for your table (they’re on the side counter) Cut out pictures that are school appropriate and represent you Glue them to the cover of your ISN Don’t cover up your information card!!!
