7 Vision statement I will effectively and tenaciously advocate for fair and equitable education funding in Illinois. Mission statement Use my knowledge and passion to empower the stakeholders of Illinois to reform and strengthen public education for all through education, communication and legislation. 9 The leader I will be is the leader I would follow. I believe an effective leader is empathetic and inspires those that follow her by promoting a strong work ethic that couples with work/life balance. A strong leader will clarify values and lead by example, never expecting more from those who follow, than she is willing to do. I believe a leader should empower others with an open exchange of ideas without fear of failure.
