Diploma supplement -Transparency main objective of ‘Bologna’ -Students, HEI’s and employers need to get a good insight/ impression of the level and content (qualifications) of the student - Diploma supplement is the instrument to inform the HEI’s and the employers -The Dutch government made the giving out of a DS to every student compulsory, and free of charge -Set Format UNESCO /CEPES
6
Check of the DS (1) All HEI’s are asked to have their DS checked 1 December 2006 the check started and two weeks ago the HEI’s were informed about the results 43 HEI’s sent in (one or more, sometimes 4) DS \We developed a checklist (we spoke to some employers and other beneficiaries) The DS were checked twice ( a university and a HBO background promotor)
7
First findings None of the DS was correct Universities have a better score than HBO The format of UNESCO/CEPES was not used or altered Pre ambule is changed The numbers are changed Names of degree courses are not correct Things are left out Information is mentioned on the category
8
Check of the DS (2) The findings of the evaluators are put together and a common conclusions were formulated. The HEI's received a general letter, a letter with general remarks and a copy of their own DS with specific remarks.
9
Conclusions Many HEI’s do not see not yet the importance of the DS It appears that Universities are taken DS more serious then HBO Many still want to impose there own format Not always provided automatically and without costs for the student
