04/04/2008LNGS, OPERA Collaboration Meeting2 /Dmitry V.Naumov eccVMC – as an exercise While among us there are experienced people, most are students... thus we did an exercise: Wrote a Virtual MC application with G3, G4, and FLUKA all working Use OpNeg for neutrino vertex generation + own generators for user wanted tracks +... call emulsion reconstruction algorithms if desired Build ROOT based GUI and batch for manipulation with simulated and reconstruction events

04/04/2008LNGS, OPERA Collaboration Meeting8 /Dmitry V.Naumov Aligning of ECC plates with cosmic pit muons Ideal caseRealistic case + ignore the reality...suggested to us by V.Tioukov

04/04/2008LNGS, OPERA Collaboration Meeting9 /Dmitry V.Naumov Analysis Strategy: Do NOT introduce misalignment but try to align the ECC plates with base-tracks left by muons + produced particles Two steps: Study alignment with muons of definite energy and direction Study how much muons are needed in order to reach the requested alignment accuracy Study alignment with a realistic flux: muon, electrons, photons, etc We use a simulation of flux by M.Sioli (thanks!) for 72 hours

04/04/2008LNGS, OPERA Collaboration Meeting16 /Dmitry V.Naumov In summary We would be pleased to contribute to OpRelease software in G4, FLUKA intefrace and validations GUI Merge our experience into the common framework We are going to summarize our work on ECC alignment soon Write a note Study also depends of track momentum resolution on the alignment accuracy
