2 Aim: What aspects of Abigail Adams’ life were limited due to the power of men? Warm-Up: Write a few sentences that you think describes what Abigail Adams is trying to say to John Adams in her letter.

3 Abigail’s Interests Since a young age, she was taught to read and write and with an extensive collection of classic literature, government and law.

4 Her Perspective Abigail Adams had a very different view from her husband’s. Through out her lifetime, she dedicated her time to seek for equality and power for women to be the same as men. “I cannot say that I think you very generous to the ladies, for whilst you are proclaiming peace and good will to men, emancipation all nations, you insist upon retaining an absolute power over wives.”

5 Highlights of her time She had taught many women in equal education as the men. “…the text of those letters became some of the earliest known writings calling for women’s equal rights.”
