High speed wide area communication networks that provide high quality communication and other services (e.g. Grid-related) at the national level in Research and Educational communities SO, GRNET IS HERE TO… provide high-quality international and national networking and grid services to the Greek academic & research institutions, to the public and private sector so as to support their research and educational activities. promote and disseminate the use of Information and Communication Technologies in the public and private sector (e-Government, e-Learning, and e-Business). GRNET S.A. is a state-owned organization under the supervision of the Ministry of Development (General Secretariat of Research & Technology).

5 Enabling Grids for E-sciencE INFSO-RI-508833 EGEE II & SOUTH EASTERN EUROPE GRNET represents the Executive Committee of the project (Project Management Board) in South Eastern Europe: – Bulgaria: Institute of Parallel Processing - Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (IPP-BAS) / Bg Grid Consortium – Cyprus: University of Cyprus (UCY) / CyGrid – Greece: GRNET / HellasGrid – Israel: Τel Aviv University (TAU) / Israel Academic Grid (IAG) – Romania: Institute of Communications and Informatics (ICI) / RoGrid – Serbia: Institute of Physics Belgrade (IPB) / AEGIS – Turkey: ULAKBIM, Turkish NREN Basic Targets: – Regional Operations Centre- SEE ROC coordinator  Responsible for operating the South Eastern Europe Grid infrastructure www.egee-see.orgwww.egee-see.org – Regional Dissemination and Training Centre  Organization of seminars and meetings in cooperation with the local partners.  Organization of the third EGEE Conference in Athens (April 2005) ~ 400 participants

6 Enabling Grids for E-sciencE INFSO-RI-508833 EGEE PHASE II & GRNET NA 2 in Phase II Our tasks are the following: Media Relations – Interfacing with media Industrial & Governmental Relations – Promote the uptake of the Grid to industry  Local or regional Grid Industry events Production of promotional material – Press releases, posters, videos, etc. Communication and cross – activity coordination User relations and websites – Maintaining the dissemination part of the www.egee-see.org site and connecting with the local userswww.egee-see.org Events – Organize events to disseminate the project work or participate in regional events to represent EGEE – Joint events or workshops with NA3 (training)
